Automatic Friends

I made a card with this stamp set for the "Fun In The Sun" challenge over at Krafty Girls the other day and when I went to put it away, I saw another sentiment that I thought would be perfect for my BFF Jennifer.  It's so funny, you know how it takes people a while to become friends?  Well...with Jennifer it was a little different.  We met about 7 years ago in our first education class.  We happened to sit next to each other and the professor said "look at the person next to you, this is your new husband or wife for the remainder of the course."  Jennifer and I looked at each other and were like, "uhhhh." This professor was also "psychic" and said that I would be a great teacher one day and that Jennifer would teach nursing school??  What a strange lady!  Anyway, Jennifer and I have been friends every since!  We became friends automatically and we were so happy that we didn't get paired up with people that wouldn't want to do their share of the work.

So here is today's card:

The card base is from Twinkle Toes.  The twine is from the Twinery.  Buttons from Michael's $1 bin.

I heat embossed the car in black and added some Glossy Accents to the windshield.  I even tried a new technique, I colored the flowers with my blender pen using the ink from some of my SU! markers.  It didn't turn out perfectly but it was fun.

I even did the inside.  Something I rarely do, but it finishes off the card so nicely!

I plan on making a few more cards with this set in the future.

Fun In The Sun

We have a challenge for you over at Krafty Girls to get your ready for summer!  Just follow the theme of "Fun in the Sun."

When I think of summer I think of the beach!  I lived about an hour from the beach in Mexico and about half an hour away from the beach when we lived in California.  My family used to load up the car and we would head to the beach for the day.  Even though my husband was in New York, he also lived a similar life being a mile from the beach!  One day we would like to have some type of vacation home near the ocean.  That day is no where in sight but we like to dream :)

Shaped cards are my favorite!  I used my new goodies from SU! and my Cricut to make my card.

One of the goodies I couldn't wait to use is this set called Road To Happiness, it is so cute!! You can view it HERE. I heat embossed the car on a different piece of cardstock and then cut it out to fit over the same stamped image on the white background.  I also used my new Bitty Banners die to cut out my banner.  I am not good at cutting out banners.  They always tend to come out all crooked, so I was happy that SU! came out with a set.

I added some Glossy Accents to the windshield of the car.  It's not showing very well in pictures :( I finished off the card with some twine from the Twinery.

Little Mermaid

I had a chance to craft tonight and I played along with the challenge at My Creative Time.  The Throwback Thursday challenge is to use a kid friendly cart to make a card with a kid theme.  I used three of my favorite child friendly carts for this one.  Once Upon a Princess, Twinkle Toes, and Create a Critter.  I have been wanting to make the mermaid on the Princess cart for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity to use her.  

The base of my card was made from Twinkle Toes.  I used the heart shape and welded it to make the base.

I saw this seahorse in Create a Critter and thought it would make a perfect friend to this little mermaid. I used the eye from a PKS face for her eye.

The craft cardstock was embossed using the Perfect Polka-dots embossing folder and I heat embossed the sentiment.  This cute sentiment came from the "My Favorite Sayings" set from MCT. 

I also added a tiny pearl necklace using liquid pearls.  That was really tricky to do because the beads had to be really small.  

Her cute face is from the Princess Face Assortment from PKS.  I added lots of dimension and some inking around the scalloped heart.  I did this with a Q-tip and a regular ink pad.  I tried to do this with a sponge at first, but I couldn't get into the small areas.  It was easy to get to them with the Q-tip.

At Home Manicure!

Today was one of the best days ever!  I don't know if you guys know about the Limeades for Learning campaign going on with Sonic.  During this time of the year Sonic has a portion of their sales go to funding classroom grants on this website called Donors Choose.  A few of us were shocked today when Sonic dropped by our school and presented us with some huge honorary checks and we were told that our grants were being funded by this campaign!!  If you have never heard of Donors Choose, I recommend you visit.  It's a place where you can help teachers across the country by giving a donation to their classroom.  You can even see classroom pictures of how your donation impacted children.

So as you can imagine, I got home in a super happy mood and had to make a card!

Here is my card:

This is suppose to be me, except I can't do my nails. I tried... and I failed. I was at a hair salon last Friday waiting for a couple hours for my hair lady, and I was sitting by the manicurist.  Getting your nails done looks so relaxing!

Can you see her nails? My husband is super good with details and he said she should have her nails already done! I added glossy accents to the nail polish and her nails.

This turned out to be a fun card! Finished it up with stitching, twine bows, and embossing. 

The sentiment that inspired the whole card is from My Creative Time's set called Gift Card Sentiments.  It's an awesome set!!

I made this card for my best friend who is having a birthday soon.  I used the Florals Embellished cartridge for the butterfly.   The card base is from Twinkle Toes.  This is my new favorite card! I keep saying that every time I make a new card :o)

I embossed the background with the Swiss Dots folder.
