The challenge for this week is to use a tree on your birthday card. I had a difficult time coming up with a design for this one. I was looking through my cartridges and I ran into this tree from Pagoda. I don't use this cart very much. The only reason I got it was because it has really pretty cherry blossoms on it, but the more I look at it, the more I realize how cute the designs are. So I saw this bonsai tree and I instantly thought about changing it into a cherry blossom tree! I then saw this adorable panda and had to use him too!
Here is my card. I showed it to a friend at work and she said that he looked like Kung Fu Panda :) I have to agree with that!
To make the card base I welded the shadow of the tree and the shadow of the panda and then copied and flipped it to make the other side. I then popped up the bushy parts of the tree, the panda, truffle, and sentiment.
I just got received this stamp set from My Creative Time and it was so perfect for this card. The little truffle was from this stamp set too. I am always looking for good birthday sentiments:) After putting this card together I found a little scrap on the floor (typical in my room!) in the shape of a circle that I thought might make it look like he is blowing out his candle. I finished it up by inking up the edges.
I am very excited to see what you create for this challenge! Please make sure to visit the Birthday Sundaes DT for more inspiration and enter your card here.
