Face Off Krafty Girls #24

I haven't crafted in such a long while!  I have missed my Cricut dearly!!  The next couple months are going to be spent in my craft room :)

Today is the summer launch over at Krafty Girls!  We have a fun challenge in store for you.  Create any paper craft that incorporates a face.

Congratulations Card

I've been into simple cards lately and I needed a quick card for a friend recently.

This is what I came up with:

I created this card using scraps that I had in my bins.  I used a SU! punch to cut out the flowers and used some pattern paper to back them.  The stamp is from My Creative Time from the Gift Card Sentiments set.  The pearls and the punch for the sentiment are also from SU!  This was a fast one to make!  It took me about 10 minutes tops, which is refreshing because I tend to spend over 5 hours to make one card.

I added some pop dots to the sentiment for dimension.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

Now to get back to planning for class.  We only have four more days of school left!  I'm looking forward to my vacation big time!

You Are My Sunshine

I felt in a crafty mood today and after visiting my BFF Jennifer I felt inspired to take on the challenges that she took part of.  

I don't usually work with sketches, it's one of my weaknesses for sure.  When I started thinking of the PKS sketch for this week I came up with an idea.  I also incorporated My Creative Time's color challenge into it as well.

I used my PKS Super Simple Eyes and Noses set for Hello Kitty's face.  HK is from the Hello Kitty Greetings cart.  Have you guys seen this cart is now a fortune on ebay? I'm so glad I got it before it became rare, and I bought it when Michael's had their clearance on carts going on for $10. I should have bought them all :) 

I had a mini shopping spree when PKS had their 30% sale recently.  I picked up this CUTE set that was retired.  It was an additional 11% off so I couldn't resist.  I arranged the twine to follow the sketch and I tried to make it look like the rain drops were falling from the sky.

My Favorite Sayings

I just recently purchased Just a Little Note so I don't have much work with that one yet, but I've used My Favorite Sayings a bunch of times.  If you don't have this set, run out and get it now.  The awesome thing is it's on sale this month!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #49

We have another fun challenge for you at Birthday Sundaes and some sad news :( This will be the last challenge for us.  I want to express how grateful I am to Kristie for giving me a chance to be on her DT.  It has been an honor working with all of the talented ladies at Birthday Sundaes and I will always remember this experience as a great one!

I have never cut out one of these babies from the Baby Steps cart and I just had to because they are so cute! I added the faces from the PKS Princess Face Assortment.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #47

Welcome back to another Birthday Sundaes challenge.  This week's challenge is: use green to create a birthday card.

I chose this cute image of a penguin holding a birthday cake.

All the cuts are from Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The tag is from My Creative Time and the sentiment is from Pink By Design. 

I had a lot of fun putting this card together.  I used my Gypsy to design the whole thing.  I had to do some measuring to make sure that the image would cut within the oval.

Krafty Girls Challenge #2

This is my 100th post, and it's so cool that it's for a Krafty Girls challenge!

Welcome to the second challenge over at Krafty Girls.  The challenge this time around is Feelin' Lucky-Make a St. Patrick's Day themed project.  Make sure to visit the DT here for more inspiration and to enter your project!

I had to go with Simply Charmed for this one!  All the cuts are from this one cartridge and they are so cute.

The sentiment is from MCT.  I had to mask part of the sentiment so that I could stamp half of it on top and half of it on the bottom to make it fit on the pot of gold.  The sentiment was then heat embossed.

The cute face is from the Boy Mates set from Peachy Keen.

I added pop dots to lift up some of the cuts.

Thank You Cards

I have been meaning to make some thank you cards for my students.  I have the day off today so I took advantage of it:)

These are 3X3 cards.  They are so easy to make with My Creative Time stamps.

I was going to use MCT's dies for these cards, but since I was making so many I thought it might be faster to use punches. 

 I was pleased to learn that the 1 1/2" circle punch from SU! or EK Success fit perfeclty around Emma's round stamps in many of her sets.  The Scallop shape punch fits perfeclty around the circle too! I love finding little tricks like this.

SU! also sells these small envelopes for 3" cards.  You can also find them at Hobby Lobby, but to my surprise they were more expensive there. The stamps that I used for the envelopes came from Studio G in the $1 bin at Joann's. I had been looking for a "stamp" stamp for a while.

Always and Forever

I LOVE Valentine's Day.  It's my second favorite holiday, only next to Christmas.

This happens to be my husband's Valentine.  He already saw it, I couldn't help showing it to him! 

This is supposed to be us.  I should be wearing glasses too, but she looks so cute already.  I hope you can tell that they are salt and pepper shakers.

The S&P shakers are on the From My Kitchen cart.  The circles and base are from the Art Philosophy cart.  I took the outer shape and welded it to make the card base.

These adorable faces are from PKS.  I hope you can see the shine from the Glossy Accents.  They make a big difference on the eyes and lips.

I added lots of pop dots and layers to give them lots of dimension.

Hello Kitty Valentine

I saw that Emma was holding a Valentine challenge and I had to join in.

What's better than HK for Valentine's Day??

I cut her out at 4" from the HK Greetings cart.  The sentiment came from MCT's Small Talk set.  I heat embossed it in white.

Her face is from the Peachy Keen Super Simple Eyes and Noses assortment.  A must have if you have the HK cartridges.  Can you see the shine? I added some glossy accents to her eyes and nose.

The black layer was dry embossed with the Polka Dots folder and the pink layer was dry embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.  

I love my pop dots! Lots of dimension here!

A few weeks ago I saw a card by September Ninth and I loved the shapes she used.  I don't have Make the Cut so I improvised with my Cricut. 

The papers and embossing powder are from SU!  The twine is from the Twinery.

Owl You Need Is Love

My dad was the inspiration for this card.  He has a thick Spanish accent and when he sings this song, I swear it sounds like he is saying "owl you need is love."  I was looking at the Hoot n' Holler cart and I remembered my dad's recreated verse :)

The card base is from Accent Essentials.  I took two of these shapes and welded them together. 

The sentiment was computer generated and I cut it out using My Creative Time's Build-A-Banner dies. I inked the edges using my brand new Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Spun Sugar.  It's so pretty! 

The eyes that came with this owl were all weird.  I ended up using the owl punch from SU! to punch out the eyes.  It looked much better.  I finished it off with some twine bows and stitching.

My Heart Is With You

I saw this image and it was screaming to be made into a card.  I didn't think I would ever use it other than scrapbooking a sonogram, but when I saw My Creative Time's sentiment "My heart is with you" I realized it would make an adorable valentine!

 This was one of the easiest cards I've ever made.  This is all one image on the Sugar And Spice cart.

I added glossy accents to the heart and heat embossed the sentiment.

Simple Gift Card Holder

I ran out of time to make a Christmas card for my brother, but I had just enough time to make him a pretty holder for his gift card.  I didn't want it to look all girly, so I kept it all blue and with a small touch of glitter.

I made it using MCT's Gift Card Holder die.  This die is a life saver!

This sentiment is from MCT from the Gift Card Sentiment set.  The sentiments on this set coordinate with this die, but they can also be used for all sorts of occasions.  I used Dazzling Diamonds glitter from SU! I love how it sparkles!

This punch is also from SU! I think I made this holder in about five minutes and it looked so nice! I finished it up with some stitching,

Cake Pops

I first heard of cake pop's while watching Martha Stewart.  Bakerella was making some cake pops on the show.  I had recently taken a cake decorating course that kicked my behind.  I was looking for something that allowed me to decorate without having a wedding cake to eat afterward :)

Cake pops were exactly what I was looking for.  Don't get me wrong, I love cake decorating, but sometimes you just want to make a few treats to share with family and friends without having to make six quarts of icing and rolling out the fondant.  Feel free to take a look at my cake gallery up above.  I put some pictures of my cakes there.

Last week I signed up to make some cake pops for my school's bake sale and they were a huge hit! I made them nice and simple; red with white sprinkles. I also got to use my new cake pop die from My Creative Time!!! I was super excited to use it.

I forgot to take pictures when I had all of them, but luckily I had one left over in my fridge that I could take pictures of!

Make sure to use sturdy cardstock for this die.  I tried using Recollections but it wasn't strong enough.  I switched to SU! cardstock. If you have a Big Shot, you can cut out FOUR of these from a single sheet of paper!

The little bags, ribbon, and sticks are from Michael's.  You can find all these items in the baking isle.

Early Valentine

So this past week I got some new things I've been dying to try out! I was able to pick up a few stacks from Michaels because their stacks were 50% off and on Thursday night they had an additional 30% off your entire purchase.  So I got the stacks I've been wanting :) And my Art Philosophy cartridge came in on Wednesday. Close To My Heart has super fast shipping!!

Here are my toys that I tried out: Art Philosophy cartridge, SU! Matchbox Die, Preppy Princess stack by DCVW, and my Valentine's Day stamp set from My Creative Time called 100% Sweetness.

This die was really easy to put together! It fits four Hershey's Nuggets perfectly.  No Nuggets here, we ended up eating them all...

This tag is also a part of this die! I love it when they throw in freebies.

I am obsessed with this flower from the Art Philosophy cart.  It's so easy to make.  I tried it out in different sizes and they all came out this beautiful!  I need to get some glue for my glue gun because the adhesive I used didn't stick too well in the center.  I also spritzed it with Perfect Pearls.  It came out so pretty!

This is what the matchbox looks like when it's open.  I love this die!!!

Birthday Sundaes #36

Good Morning!  This challenge helped me dig out tons of stuff I haven't seen in forever! I love to purchase craft items and sometimes I forget what I have :( One of those items are my SU! chalks. I just use them to color the cheeks on my PKS faces, but I have been wanting to color with them for a long time.  I colored her skin with the chalks, the glow around her wand, and the ruffles in her skirt.  They worked perfectly to give her a soft look.  Also, I ordered these pearls from SU! months ago and forgot I had them.  I saw her ears and thought she needed a little pearl earring.  One little detail and it added so much!  The next items are my stickles.  This was my first time using them.  I was half scared that they would be dried up by now, but luckily they were just fine.  The last item is the very first stack of paper I ever bought.  It is called Nana's Nursery.  It is really cute but I only used it once in the last three or maybe four years.  This polka dot paper was the perfect addition for my card.

I colored this image with SU! markers.  Thanks to Samantha, I have discovered liquid pearls. I need some serious practice using them.  You have to check out Samantha's work because she is AMAZING. She gets every little pearl perfectly spaced and sized.  The sentiment was made for this card!!! It's from My Creative Time in the All Around Birthday set.  

I hope you can see how well the calks worked out for her skin.  My grandma went crazy for her little pearl earring:)

Little Mermaid

I had a chance to craft tonight and I played along with the challenge at My Creative Time.  The Throwback Thursday challenge is to use a kid friendly cart to make a card with a kid theme.  I used three of my favorite child friendly carts for this one.  Once Upon a Princess, Twinkle Toes, and Create a Critter.  I have been wanting to make the mermaid on the Princess cart for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity to use her.  

The base of my card was made from Twinkle Toes.  I used the heart shape and welded it to make the base.

I saw this seahorse in Create a Critter and thought it would make a perfect friend to this little mermaid. I used the eye from a PKS face for her eye.

The craft cardstock was embossed using the Perfect Polka-dots embossing folder and I heat embossed the sentiment.  This cute sentiment came from the "My Favorite Sayings" set from MCT. 

I also added a tiny pearl necklace using liquid pearls.  That was really tricky to do because the beads had to be really small.  

Her cute face is from the Princess Face Assortment from PKS.  I added lots of dimension and some inking around the scalloped heart.  I did this with a Q-tip and a regular ink pad.  I tried to do this with a sponge at first, but I couldn't get into the small areas.  It was easy to get to them with the Q-tip.
