Birthday Sundaes Challenge #47

Welcome back to another Birthday Sundaes challenge.  This week's challenge is: use green to create a birthday card.

Our sponsor for this challenge, Bugaboo Digi Stamps, has generously provided some awesome images for us to work with.  The winner of this challenge will receive seven free images!

I chose this cute image of a penguin holding a birthday cake.
All the cuts are from Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The tag is from My Creative Time and the sentiment is from Pink By Design.

I had a lot of fun putting this card together.  I used my Gypsy to design the whole thing.  I had to do some measuring to make sure that the image would cut within the oval.

Make sure to check out all the inspiration from the Birthday Sundaes DT and enter your card!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #38

We are back! It was nice to have a little break, but I have seriously missed posting on Sundays for our Birthday Sundaes challenges.  I am happy to be back :)

This week's challenge is the ever so popular anything goes birthday card. You also have the option to use something new on your card.

***Here is a Birthday Sundaes Special Offer:
A special offer for Birthday Sundaes fans - use the discount code Birthday10 at the Whimsie Doodles online store and receive 10% off your next order! Code expires 30 days from today.

One (1) winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the Whimsie Doodles Online Store!

Make sure to enter your card and visit the Birthday Sundaes team here.

If I could, I probably would use Hello Kitty on every single one of my cards.  She is just so cute! I hadn't used her in a long while, so it was time for her to make a comeback.

On my card I used some new liquid pearls in the Bisque color.  It looks like an off white color in the bottle but it looks a little yellow with this combination of papers.  It complimented the papers perfectly!

Tons of pop dots used here. You can see the dimension a bit better in this picture.

I really like decorating the inside of my cards.  I used a Pink By Design sentiment and the HK face from  Peachy Keen.

Recipe:
Cartridges: Hello Kitty Greetings, Elegant Edges
Liquid Pearls: Bisque
Sentiments: Pink By Design
Hello Kitty Face Stamp: Peachy Keen Stamps
Papers: SU! DCVW

Thank you for visiting and I look forward to seeing your card!

Birthday Sundaes #37

It's time for another Birthday Sundaes challenge! We have an easy challenge for you. It is an anything goes birthday card!
This is our last challenge for this year, but we will be back in January:)  Please stop by and check out the DT's creations and enter your card here.

The prize this week is a the "Another Year" stamp set from our sponsor Tradefish Designs.

For my card I used Once Upon a Princess for the unicorn.  The card base shape is from Lacy Labels.  The original shape was a little too thin, so I stretched it out with my Gypsy and then copied and welded it to create the base.

I have a birthday party coming up and I thought, what's better than a girly unicorn for a little girl?

I masked a PKS face to give my unicorn an eye.

I popped her up with pop dots, added some twine, stitching, and my new favorite: liquid pearls:)

Thank you for visiting and I can't wait to see what you create!

Hello everyone! First of all, I hope all of you in the path of Hurricane Irene are safe and sound.  My thoughts are with you and your families.

Today for our Birthday Sundaes challenge we have an inspiration photo for you right here:

cupcake+flags.jpg

I'm pretty new to the photo inspiration idea and I have to say that I am loving it!  What I find really fun is that you can take any element that gets your creative juices flowing and use it to create.  From this photo I was inspired by the pretty colors and the cupcakes.

So here is my card:

I LOVE penguins and when I thought of this card and the colors, I knew I had to use this cute penguin!

Here is a side view.

How cute is this Peachy Keen face?  I added glossy accents to her lashes and to the cherry on her cupcake.

I added a bunch of pop dots to give her and the cupcake dimension.

I am loving this scalloped oval shape from Elegant Edges.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #23- Color Challenge

Hello!  This week at Birthday Sundaes we have a pink, green, and white challenge for you.  You can also use neutrals as needed.  This is one of my favorite color schemes ever! You can see that in my previous work, and most likely in lots of my future work too :)

This week Sue is generously offering the prize for the winner of this challenge.  It's a large Oval Scallops Nestabilities set. Please stop by and check out the DT's beautiful work and enter your card here.

Here is my card:

Can you believe that most of this flower was meant to be green?  Yeah, I couldn't believe it either!  I basically cut this flower twice.  One in green and one in pinks.  I then cut the top of the flower off at the base of the stem and adhered the pink flower in its place.  So much prettier!

I heat embossed the sentiment and dry embossed the background with a SU! Stripes folder.

I also popped up the flower and added some stitching all around the card and some parts of the flower. Here is another view of this card.

This is Kristie's birthday month and our challenges are based around her favorite things.  This color scheme is awesome!!  I love this card!!

Happy Birthday Kristie!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #22- Brads

We have a really fun challenge for you at Birthday Sundaes! The challenge is to make a birthday card using at least three brads.  Easy and fun!

Please stop by and take a look at the design team's cards for inspiration. This week we also have Laurie from Scraps By Sissy as our guest designer!

This is my card:

Ever since I saw this sentiment I kept thinking of Thumper from Bambi.

I placed one brad on his birthday hat and three more brads on the inner corners of the card.  I faux stitched around the rectangle and parts of Thumper's body.  I wanted it to look like he was a stuffed animal.

This sentiment says "Hoppy Birthday."  I heat embossed it in white.  I love his expression!

Here is a side view:

The base was welded together from the Elegant Edges cart.

Recipe:
Disney Classics: Thumper
Simply Charmed: Party Hat
Elegant Edges: Scalloped Rectangle
Pink By Design: Sentiment

This little turtle needed some help reaching the candle so he could make his wish:)

I added some twine to his birthday hat and the cake.

I added pop dots to the cake and the turtles.  I double popped the turtles to make them stand out from the cake.  You can see it here:

To finish it off I stitched around the card, dry embossed the Crumb Cake card stock with a polka dot folder and heat embossed the sentiment.

Birthday Sundaes Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Hello! If you are arriving here from Candice's blog you are in the right place! If not, make sure you don't miss the fun starting at Birthday Sundaes.  You will be able to enter to win blog candy by posting on everyone's blog.  I will also be giving away something special here so please keep reading :)

This blog hop is all about cakes and cupcakes! My inspiration for this card came from a project a did a couple of weeks ago.  I had just received Sweet Tooth Boxes and Flower Shop.  Two carts I was really excited about! I knew I wanted to make a rose and a cake box.  So I got to work right away and here is the result:

This rose took me a while to figure out how to make.  It started out as white cardstock.  I love how it turned out!  It looks way better in person but you can see the details pretty well here.

Here is another view of this little rose.

So when it came time to make my cake/cupcake birthday card I thought about how this cake would look like if it was whole.  I instantly reached for Once Upon a Princess because I remembered that it has a beautiful cake and it used similar colors.  Here is my card:

I added some rhinestones, stitching, and twine for extra detail.

I heat embossed the sentiment and then ran it through my Big Shot using the Polka Dot folder. I then added some pop dots to the cake to give it some dimension.

I was very happy with the final result!

Dad's Birthday Card

School is back in session for us here in AZ and boy am I tired!!  I was able to find some time to make this card for my dad's birthday.

My dad loves animals and spends lots of time watching the Discovery Channel AND my parents just got a puppy and they named him Bruce, so this card with Bruce from Finding Nemo was perfect for him!!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Challenge #19 Inspiration photo at Birthday Sundaes
Challenge #18 Emboss it! at My Craft Spot
Challenge #102 Under the Sea at Paper Cutz

Bruce seems very happy about my dad's birthday.

I love the his smile here!  I embossed the sentiment with SU! embossing powder.  The stamp is from Pink By Design and it says "Smile, it's your birthday." It goes perfectly with Bruce's expression!!

I tried to make this card as masculine as I could.  I even resisted and didn't put any twine bows on it, even though I REALLY wanted to!
Here is a side view of the card-

I added faux stitching all around the card and dry embossed the background of the card with a polka dot folder after I heat embossed the sentiment.  I pop dotted Bruce to give the card some dimension.

Squirt's Birthday Card-My Pink Stamper DT Call

Finding Nemo is one of my all time favorite movies! I'm a Hello Kitty/Disney fanatic:)
This image was calling my name!

After making this card I realized that it followed the guidelines of the My Pink Stamper DT challenge!
I don't know if I stand a chance with all those talented people who are applying but it would be a huge honor to be chosen!!

The challenge is to use the colors organge, green, brown, turquoise and a color of your choice.  I have the four basic colors there and I'm thinking white would be my extra color.  You can also enter this challenge here!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Anything Goes Challenge #18 at Birthday Sundaes.
Shaped Birthday Card Challenge #24 at Die Cuttin Divas.

I am so thrilled to have twine now! I don't know if it's because blue is my favorite color or what, but I love this color. It's called Caribbean.  I embossed the sentiment in white.

I'm not sure if turtles belong in a fish bowl... but he looks cute in there!
