I signed up for a cake decorating course at Hobby Lobby a while ago and I have got to say that it was one of the best decisions of my life! I got a really hardcore instructor. She pushed us to our limits! I felt like I was on one of those TV shows where the expert says and does anything to make you do better. It was difficult but sooo fun and now I can make special treats for my family and friends when time permits.
Here are some of the tasty treats that I have made.
My latest thing has been making cake pops. They are easy to make and so cute! I've made some Hello Kitty ones, cupcakes, chicks, and sea animals. Here is a little star fish:
This is a cake I made for a friend. The little boy loves the Cars movies.
I had never shaved a cake before this one. It was one of the most difficult things ever. It looks so easy on TV, but when you are taking regular sheets of cake and trying to make them round while everything is crumbling...it's a bit stressful. This cake was for my sister-in-laws Halloween party.
I found this mini wedding cake pan set at a local store and look at what you can make with it! I wanted to practice making tired cakes, but I couldn't keep on eating three-six boxes a cake to do it. This mini cake pan set uses just one box of cake mix.
This is another mini wedding cake. I was trying to practice my string work. I thought my hands were going to fall off LOL!!
I fell in love with this flower when I saw it. I hand made them using a mold and some fondant. Super easy. These cupcakes were for my class. They loved them...and so did I! They were vanilla cake with strawberry cream cheese filling!!
This was my first attempt at a fondant bow. The cake ended up looking like a cute hat box.
My first roses.
My cousin's birthday came up during the course and my aunt asked if I could make a birthday cake for the party. I jumped at the chance! I was so proud of myself when I learned how to pipe these roses.
One of my favorite cakes ever! This is a tiny 4 inch cake. I took it into work and four of us ate tiny little slices:)
My first wedding cake! This took about six hours to decorate. It was SO heavy!
How cute is this cake? The flowers were all handmade with fondant or piped with frosting. We were practicing the basket weave technique that you can see on the sides of the cake.
This cake was made completely out of stars. Time consuming but so worth it! This was also my first attempt at making homemade buttercream frosting. Delicious!
Oh my goodness! You are so talented! And boy do they look yummy! Thanks for sharing!
