Birthday Sundaes Challenge #35

Good morning! It's time for a Birthday Sundaes challenge!

The challenge for this week is to use a tree on your birthday card.  I had a difficult time coming up with a design for this one.  I was looking through my cartridges and I ran into this tree from Pagoda.  I don't use this cart very much.  The only reason I got it was because it has really pretty cherry blossoms on it, but the more I look at it, the more I realize how cute the designs are.  So I saw this bonsai tree and I instantly thought about changing it into a cherry blossom tree!  I then saw this adorable panda and had to use him too!

Here is my card.  I showed it to a friend at work and she said that he looked like Kung Fu Panda :) I have to agree with that!

To make the card base I welded the shadow of the tree and the shadow of the panda and then copied and flipped it to make the other side.  I then popped up the bushy parts of the tree, the panda, truffle, and sentiment.

I just got received this stamp set from My Creative Time and it was so perfect for this card.  The little truffle was from this stamp set too.  I am always looking for good birthday sentiments:) After putting this card together I found a little scrap on the floor (typical in my room!) in the shape of a circle that I thought might make it look like he is blowing out his candle.  I finished it up by inking up the edges.

I am very excited to see what you create for this challenge! Please make sure to visit the Birthday Sundaes DT for more inspiration and enter your card here

  13. OMG, this is sooo cute Maribel! I still don't have Pagoda but now that I 've seen this, I think it's a must have. Beautiful work on the shaped card and the little panda looks like he's blowing out the candle (even though he doesn't have a mouth, go figure!). I love this! xxD
